Dear Secretary Zinke,
My name is Suzy Goldhirsch, and I am the President of the Fire Island Association (FIA). On behalf of the residents, business owners and visitors to Fire Island, I would like to offer comments on the deleterious impacts that the offshore oil and gas lease authorizations as outlined in the DPP would have on our island. In my remarks, I will cover three topics: (1) a brief description of the FIA; (2) an overview of the historical, environmental and economic importance of Fire Island; and (3) the concerns that Fire Islanders have over the possibility of off shore oil and gas exploration and production off our shores.
